Countdown Underway: Government sets tasks for the near future
Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan held a meeting of the Complex on Education, Health, Social Protection, Information Systems and Telecommunications to review the outcomes of the socio-economic development in the first half of 2012.

The participants analyzed the work of ministries and departments within the Complex on how they had implemented the objectives set by the head of the state at the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on the key outcomes of 2011 and the priorities of socio-economic development in 2012.

In the first half of this year the general amount of products manufactured and services provided within the Complex amounted to more than 1.99 trillion soums. The growth rate made up 123.8% if compared to the same period in 2011. The services provided to the population amounted to 965 billion soums (119%). $ 161.8 million was drawn in the projects under investment programs; exports rates exceeded the estimates. The participants also touched upon the coverage of graduates of secondary schools teaching with secondary special and vocational education and employment of college graduates.

Along with that, special attention was paid to issues related to the ongoing work on strengthening the role and importance of a local community and the self-government bodies in implementing the objectives of the national program Year of Family, catalyzing practical cooperation between educational institutions and the institution of the family, ensuring their close and successful interaction, enhancing the efficiency of the work on improving the maternal and child health system, as well as health service delivery to families.

The course of development of information and communication technologies, their introduction to the work of government, raise of the level of computer literacy in staff and the results of ongoing performance evaluation were analyzed as well. They scrutinized the issues of establishment ‘single window’ centers in local administrations to remove bureaucratic barriers and obstacles for small business and entrepreneurship, as well as provision of business entities with interactive services, and development of their information security.
