International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking
Since 1994, 48 tons 221 kilograms of narcotic substances were annihilated in Uzbekistan.
These and other data were announced at a press conference held at a plant in Sergeli district of Tashkent, where on the instruction of the government, National Security Service of Uzbekistan jointly with other law enforcement agencies carried out burning of the next batch of drugs seized during the fight against drug trafficking.
This event is timed to coincide with the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, which is observed on 26 June.
Large amount of narcotic substances are burned in the presence of the representatives of UN, government, NGOs and international organizations, diplomatic corps and mass media.
On 26 June, a ton 650 kilograms of narcotics, including heroin 499 kg, 597 kg of opium, 302 kg of hashish, 240 kilograms of marijuana, 9 kilograms of koknar, 758 bushes of cannabis and a large amount of psychotropic substances in the form of tablets and solutions were burned in a blast furnace.
The main factor exerting a negative influence on the drug situation in Uzbekistan is a neighborhood with the world’s largest producer of drugs Afghanistan.
Uzbek law enforcement agencies conducting a special complex operations to detect and prevent illegal activities of transnational narco grouping, cut off the smuggling channels, the elimination of drug crops and the prevention of drug addiction. (Source: UzA news agency)
