On 15 June 2012 the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan held a meeting with a parliamentary delegation of the Italian Republic headed by Agostino Chiglia, representative of the Committee for environment, land and public works of the Chamber of Deputies.

Enhancement of inter-parliamentary links in light of extending wide-ranging Uzbek-Italian dialogue was dicussed during the talks. In this regard significant role is assigned to implementation of the Memorandum on cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries, signed during the visit. The document envisages formation of friendship groups in the parliaments of Italy and Uzbekistan, development of cooperation between the relevant deputies’ committees and commissions.

Mutual interest in further expansion of partnership in all directions of cooperation was noted.

Particular attention was paid to the issues of interaction in trade-economic and investment areas, as well as in tourism.

The events, held within the frameworks of implementing joint cultural cooperation Program for 2012-2015, has had positive feedbacks from social circles in Italy and Uzbekistan. The program is aimed to support regular exchanges between universities and other educational facilities, institutions of culture and arts, archelogy, preservation and protection of cultural-historical heritage, archives.
