XII Silk and Spices Festival Took Place in Bukhara
In Bukhara, the traditional 12th festival “Silk and Spices” took place in the square of Labihovuz.
Bukhara, located on the crossroads of the Great Silk Road, has always been famous not only as a center of science and education, but also workmanship.
Ages-old traditions and values of our nation, restored in the years of independence are widely being demonstrated at the festival held by the city administration together with the Bukhara regional branch of the National Company “Uzbektourism” and a number of NGOs.
The main purpose of the festival is to familiarize our people and foreign tourists with the success of national crafts in various regions of our country, the further development of tourism, promoting the exchange of experiences between the people’s masters.
Masters of craftsmen from different regions of the country presented their products in the exhibition halls. Gold embroidery and jewelry products of Bukhara, satin and adras of Fergana, carpets of Surkhandarya, Kashkadarya and Khiva, embroideries of Nurata, as well as various ceramics show the dynamic development of handicrafts in the country.
At the festival, the products of carpet weavers of Surkhandarya region Olim Aripov and his wife Hanifa Salimova have also aroused particular interest in visitors.
Participants of the event and foreign visitors also got acquainted with the works of cutters and jewelers from Bukhara center of crafts. (Source: UzA news agency)
