Uzbek Chess Players, Winners of Asian Championship
Chess players of Uzbekistan have won three silver and one bronze medals at the Asian Chess Championship among girls and boys under 20 years held in Tashkent.
The prestigious competition, organized under the auspices of the Asian Chess Federation, Ministry of Culture and Sports, Chess Federation of Uzbekistan and the Fund “Forum of Culture and Arts of Uzbekistan” took place in Swiss system, 9 rounds.
More than 50 players from India and Afghanistan, the United Arab Emirates, Vietnam, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan fought for the victory together with our compatriots.
Among juniors, the second place was occupied by the member of Uzbekistan’s team Nikita Khoroshev. The golden medal of the Asian Championship was taken by Srinath Narayan from India and Ayan Akhmetov of Kazakhstan.
The FIDE master Ivana Maria Furtado from India became Asian champion among women. The other prizes went to Ti Kim Pung Wo (Vietnam) and Rucha Pujari (India).
Blitz tournament for boys and girls was also organized in the framework of the Asian championship. Alisher Bekmurodov, the winner of Umid Nihollari 2012 contest has won silver medal.
He has won five of the seven parties and once played in a draw. And the bronze medal was received by world-class athlete Jahongir Vohidov from Uzbekistan. The first place went to Mishra Svayams from India.
Multiple champion of Uzbekistan Sarvinoz Kurbanbayeva, scoring five points won the silver medal in the competition held among girls. Gold and bronze medals were taken by Indian chess players Bhakti Kulkarni and Rucha Pujari. (Source: UzA news agency)
