6TH SESSION OF EU-UZBEKISTAN COOPERATION COUNCIL TO BE HELD IN BRUSSELS
The sixth session of the EU-Uzbekistan Cooperation Council will be held in Brussels (Belgium) today, 1 February. Uzbek delegation is headed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan and co-chairman of the Council Sodyq Safayev.
According to the Uzbek Foreign Ministry, the session will overview a number of regional issues, including the situation in Central Asia, development of Uzbekistan\'s relations with the neighboring states, situation in Afghanistan and possibilities of cooperation in recovering this state.
Besides, the session will address political issues, in particular, cooperation of Uzbekistan and European Union in the context of processes taking place in Central Asia and Europe, the results of parliamentary elections in Uzbekistan, human rights, and execution of the political criteria of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
The parties will particularly pay attention to the issues of fighting terrorism, drug trafficking and organized crime, as well as EU\'s expansion, adoption of the Constitution of the European Union, development of joint foreign policy and political security.
The parties will also discuss the course of implementation of economic reforms in Uzbekistan, provision of technical assistance and cooperation in the sphere of education, culture, science and technology.
