About 77.7% of GDP falls to share of non-state sector
The volume of gross domestic product (GDP) of Uzbekistan made up 17.65 trillion soums (official exchange rate 1 USD= 1868,65 UZS) at current prices in the first quarter of 2012, according to preliminary data. The growth rate made up 7.5% year-on-year.

The State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan said in the structure of GDP by forms of ownership the share of the non-state sector is 77.7% (76.4% in January-March 2011) and that of the state sector – 22.3% (23.6% in January-March 2011).

Share of good production in GDP structure made up 35.6% in the first quarter of 2012 (38.2% in the first quarter of 2011) and service production – 52.1% (48.5%).

Net taxes for products and export operations reached 12.3% of GDP in the first three months of 2012 (13.3%).

Some 527,000 legal entities registered in Uzbekistan According to the data of the Uniform State Business Register, as of 1 April 2012, the number of registered legal persons was 527,800 units, 495,100 of them (93.8% of total registered enterprises) are operating.

The State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan, the greatest number of enterprises and institutions (excluding private farms) was registered in trade and catering (25.6% of total registered enterprises), agriculture (21%), industry (13.3%), and construction (7.4%).

In the total number of registered enterprises the share of enterprises with non-state form of ownership was 92.6%, of which 50.8% - private and dekhkan farms, 20.4% - private enterprises, 0.9% - enterprises with participation of foreign capital, 20.5% – other enterprises.

The number of newly registered enterprises and institutions was 9,400 in January-March 2012. Their significant number was marked in the city of Tashkent (17.6% of total registered enterprises in Uzbekistan), Kashkadarya region (9%), Tashkent region (8.6%), and Syrdarya region (8.2%).

In the sectoral structure of newly registered enterprises 40.2% - the share of agriculture, 20.1% - trade and catering, and 15.7% - industry.

In the reporting period, 5,100 enterprises and institutions were liquidated. Out of them 1,522 were liquidated voluntarily. In the sectoral structure of liquidated enterprises, 30.8% fell to share of trade and catering, 26.9% - agriculture, and 14.6% – industry. (Source: UzDaily.com)
