Supply meeting demand
Youngsters from all regions of the country have all-round conditions for getting called-for professions. Confirmation to this statement we have found in Khorazm region, where six academic lyceums and 85 professional colleges successfully operate. Nowadays, all of them as other similar institutions of the republic make their activity getting oriented on the demand of the labor market and society in upbringing intellectually advanced young generation of specialists.
To the requirement of economy
Development of secondary special, professional education closely linked with requirements of the region in specialists. The following fact is in support of it. Despite that Khorazm region is the tourist pearl of Uzbekistan, up to 2006 specialists for this sphere was trained by only one professional college and only on one specialty. Everything is changed with the establishment of the specialized education institution – Urganch College of Tourism.
“Range of directions are considerably broadened on which specialists for hospitality industry are getting prepared in the region,” says the headmaster of the college Uktam Yoldoshev. “We train students all details of tourist, accommodation and catering business in the spirit of national traditions and high international standards of services. We also have groups specialized in training chefs of national and European cuisines.”
With reorganization of the Urganch College of Informatics into the College of Information-Communication Technologies the region started preparing not only programmers and masters on repair of computer outlets, but specialists for information-communication network servicing, as well as telephone and mail service. “Due to great demand in the labor market in these specialists there have been opened other two similar colleges, and on certain specialties started training cadres in other ‘related colleges’,” underscored headmaster of the Urganch College Madraim Jumaniyozov.
The sort of changes has occurred in the system of preparation of specialists almost all sectors of the region’s economy. And, it is understandably enough, as the quality of work turns better when it is done by a qualified specialist.
For the last several years the institutions have become more flexible to the requirements of labor market. List of specialties and quantity of training cadres is determined regarding present-day demands of economy. For example, starting from this academic year the Khonqa Professional College of Service and Information Technologies has stopped training accountants and begins preparing cosmetologists-hairdressers.
“To the 2012-2013 academic year we plan to restructure other more colleges,” emphasized the head of the regional administration of the Center for Secondary Special, Professional Education Alijon Razzoqov. “We also intend to intense the preparation of silkworm breeders, welders, specialists for road-building and carpet-weaving through contraction of volume of preparation of accountants and pedagogues.”
College brand
Students of the Urganch College of Tourism are frequently met in the only in the republic trolleybus shuttling between Urganch and ancient town Khiva. They use this transport to get their practical training spot.
“The college has training laboratories of accommodation, catering and culinary business, but nothing could replace practical training,” said the headmaster of the college Uktam Yoldoshev. “For this purpose we try to keep close contacts with leading enterprises of tourism industry of the region, and sometimes we give them our best specialists.
Recently our teacher was assigned the director of the Asia.Khiva Hotel. However, it turned our good, as we are in close and fruitful collaboration with one of the major and best hotels of the country.”
Today, all professional colleges of the region work out the ways of developing the system of training young specialists in association with ‘college-enterprise’.
The regional administration, major enterprises and small business entities assist education institutions at that. Relatively new solution of this task turned the launch of production on material-technical base of the college. Among succeeding ones in this direction is Khonqa College of Service and Information Technologies.
“Equipments installed at our production workshops are used for manufacturing macaroni foods, pastry baked goods, as well as traditional Khorazm flat cakes,” said the headmaster of the College Gulsara Ahmedova. “Our products enjoy great demand. We produce goods to the order of farmers, children’s recreation camps and supermarkets. Currently, the district administration works under allocation the land for our brand-name store. But, the most important in this process is the educational effect. Students acquire professional skills, seeing how they would be in demand as specialists. It pushes them for better learning of all subtleties of their future professions.”
Good performance
Along with it, professional colleges maintain the high level among institutions taking active participation in training the youth on general disciplines. College students along with those from academic lyceums perform in republican subject Olympiads among students of academic lyceums, professional colleges and general schools and other international and republican competitions.
“Recently we have summed up the results of the regional round of the republican subject Olympiad,” told the head of the regional administration of the Center fro Secondary Special, Professional Education Alijon Razzoqov. “Out of 29 winners on various subjects twenty are the students of academic lyceums and nine – representatives of colleges. Good results demonstrated colleges of Gurlan, Shovot, Qushkupir, Yangiariq and Khonqa districts.”
Deep knowledge on general disciplines is a good help in entering higher education institutions. This year about one third of graduates of colleges in Khorazm region are planning to enter universities. (Source: “Uzbekistan Today” newspaper)
