Secure under Progressive Laws
Uzbekistan has maintained the protection of art and literary products of local authors in more than 160 countries and similar protection of foreign products within the country.
It was announced at the subregional seminar on the protection of copyright, allied rights and joint management of property rights hosted in Tashkent. The seminar was organized by the Agency on Intellectual Property of the republic of Uzbekistan and International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers.
The Guild of Authors and Performers of Uzbekistan, the young public organization that actively runs its work, is considered the permanent member of this Confederation since 2010. Basing on the contracts with the guild, the products of Uzbek authors are used by more than hundred foreign and national organizations.
Successive work on securing the rights of musicians, artists, writers, scholars and representatives of various other professions got developed after joining of the republic in 2005 to the Berne Convention for the protection of Literary and Artistic Works. The law developed taking into account this convention On Copyright and Allied Rights vested the interests of national and foreign authors, products of whom are used in the country. Necessary regulations have been prepared for firm and time-meeting legal foundation for registration of individuals of author’s rights and of deals concerning them.
From Uzbekistan part the seminar was attended by representatives of state authorities, Association of Cable Television of Uzbekistan, Union of Composers and other public organizations, as well as those from the capital theaters, writers and others.
“Huge work has been carried out in Uzbekistan for the protection of interests of national and foreign authors,” informed UT correspondent the official of the World Intellectual Property Organization Saule Tlevselova. “Your country actively cooperates with international organizations on protection of intellectual property.
