Triumph of Drama Art
Festival of artistic creativity, beauty and talent Masters of the stage used to turn the everyday life to festivity and share the drama art connoisseurs with new bright impressions have celebrated their professional day. World Theater Day brings together all admirers of drama art all throughout the world. In Uzbekistan this day is celebrated widely in all 37 theaters of the country. This year, March 27 has been marked in a big way that turned into unforgettable and magic festival.
The celebration, established in 1961 by the 9th Congress of the International Institute of Theater under UNESCO, is supported with festive actions, interesting events and premieres of new plays across the globe. Today, it is celebrated in more than a hundred countries.
Numerous connoisseurs of drama art expect to see this day something special and distinctive.
“Traditionally the World Theater Day is a sort of sum up of results and make up of new creative plans,” tells the head of management office of the Creative-Production Association O’zbekteatr Isonbay O’rinov. “In my consideration, the passed 2011 was quite successful for national theater representatives. There were premiered more than 150 plays of different genres addressed topical themes. In the last year there were staged about 10 thousand plays in tote that were visited by more than two million 700 thousand people. It should be specially noted about the Republican Festival Glorifying You, Contemporary that was timed to the 20 years celebration of the country’s independence. For the passed year major works were carried out in sphere of international creative collaboration. Among the examples are the 2nd International Festival Theatre.UZ 2011 organized by the Fund Forum, Ministry of Culture and Sports and Creative-Production Association O’zbekteatr that brought together in the capital celebrated masters of the stage from across the worls, as well as International Opera Festival Tashkent Spring and other actions. Many our artists were decorated with high prizes abroad.”
All theaters of the country hosted creative meetings, premieres of new plays and various other actions timed to the date.
“Theater is a high art requiring genuine talent and painstaking work,” tells the Honored Worker of Culture Andrei Slonim. “Plays make people think over the purpose of life, calling for good and justice and fostering in them best moral merits. This is because we celebrate the World Theater Day with such an inspiration. The Alisher Navoi State Academic Grand Theater is to demonstrate this day the premiere opera La Boheme by Giacomo Puccini. I believe it suite the taste of modern spectators.”
In the capital the World Theater Day is welcomed with the bright and sated festive program that has been started with a grand ceremony at the Uzbek National Academic Drama Theater that was continued with an extravaganza performance in the Academy of Arts. This sort of magic spectacle has been organized by the Fund Forum, Ministry of Culture and Sports, Creative-Production Association O’zbekteatr and Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan.
The Central Exhibition Hall opens a singular exposition under the motto Artists of the Stage, displaying the creativity of quite diverse masters of the stage – decorators, scene designers, costume designers, property people and make-up masters. The hall itself is designed like a fairy kingdom, main characters of which are popular personages of national and world drama art. Products of theater artists are places everywhere around the exhibition hall attracting people’s attention with their intricacy. Visitors highly appraised the creativity of works of theaters making scene decorations without of which any play is full.
“Modern theater artists are bold innovators and dreamers combining in their creativity distinctive technical ways and stylistic devices,” emphasizes the director of the Uzbek State Drama Theater Sayfiddin Meliyev. “Our theater troupe has partaken in the festive occasion took place in the Academy of Arts. We organized musical show in performance style dedicated to the work of the artist Aleksandr Volkov Pomegranate Tea House.”
Yet the main attention of spectators have been turned to the performance where artists from leading theater of Tashkent involved in – opera and operetta soloists, actors of drama and puppet theaters.
Under the tunes of national instruments there have been organized improvisations of jesters and clowns, as well as scenes from various national and foreign plays. The audience was in raptures over this magic world of drama art.(Source: Uzbekistan Today Newspaper)
