International Fertilizer Industry Association held April 2-4 regional conference in Tashkent.

The Government of Uzbekistan has adopted a decree on organizational measures for the regional conference of the International Fertilizer Industry Association in Tashkent. Experts believe this event will promote cooperation of Uzbekistan with the International Fertilizer Industry Association (IFA). Also, it will play a significant role in attracting potential investors to investment projects in the chemical industry of the republic, in building modern facilities for the production of products highly liquid and competitive on the international market, diversification of the structure and exports destinations of mineral fertilizers produced by enterprises of Uzkimyosanoat.

This year the central issue on the conference agenda will be the current state and trends in the international fertilizer market and related industries.

The Uzbek government has approved the program of the regional conference, developed by the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade of Uzbekistan and Uzkimyosanoat, to take place in Tashkent on 2-4 April 2012. Following the conference, Uzkimyosanoat will prepare a final report and submit it to the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan with proposals to attract potential investors to investment projects in chemical industry and to enhance cooperation with the leading logistics companies to diversify the geography of exports of mineral fertilizers.

Last year, Uzkimyosanoat companies produced 1.17 million tons of various fertilizers. Most of them are nitrogen fertilizers, 924.3 thousand tons. The second and third are phosphate fertilizers (139.4 thousand tons) and potash fertilizers (108 thousand tons). Exports of chemical products amounted to 110.8% of the forecast. In the next two years Uzbekistan plans to significantly increase production of potash fertilizers, and run a project of expansion of production capacity at Dehkanabad Potash Fertilizer Plant.
