Implementing modern energy solutions
The Korean government provided a $2.5 million grant to Uzbekistan to improve the electricity consumption metering system in Navoi region.

President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov has approved several measures of the master plan to reduce electricity distribution losses, as well as introduce automated control systems and electric power metering and billing system in Navoi region.

As part of this project the government of South Korea and Uzbekistan signed an agreement on the allocation of a South Korean $2.5 million grant for the project. The Korean government\'s interest in the electricity development in Navoi region is quite understandable. Today, Korean Air controls an international intermodal logistics hub at Navoi International Airport and there are a number of Korean investors running their businesses in FIEZ Navoi.

The executive body from the Uzbek side responsible for the implementation of the project is Uzbekenergo, and the bank serving the grant funds is National Bank of Uzbekistan. The president tasked Uzbekenergo till the end of March to develop a project plan, as well as provide monitoring and control of the targeted and efficient use of grant funds, equipment and materials supplied under this project.
