Uzbekistan increases electricity output by 1.3% in 2011
Uzbekistan increased electricity production by 1.3% year-on-year in January-December 2011 to 52.4 billion kilowatt hours, the State Statistics Committee said.
In 2011, the enterprises of Uzbekistan produced 18.5 million Gcal of heat energy, or grew by 0.9% year-on-year.
The committee said that Uzbekistan produced 3.844 million tonnes of coal in 2011. The growth rate made up 5.9% year-on-year.
Over 98% of Uzbek electricity is produced at stations belonging to Uzbekenergo state joint stock company. The company unites seven thermal plants, six hydroelectric plants and three combined heat and power plants.
The set capacity of power stations of Uzbekistan makes up 11,965 megawatt (thermal power stations and combined heat and power plants – 11,619 megawatt and hydro power stations – 1.346 megawatt).
