Number of population of Uzbekistan grew by 435,700 people in 2011 and, according to the preliminary data of the State Statistics Committee, it reached 29.559 million as of 1 January 2012. According to the State Statistics Committee, some 626,900 people were born in Uzbekistan in 2011 (the birth rate - 21.4 pro mil) and about 144,600 people died (death rate -4.9 pro mil). The committee recalled that the birth rate was 22.4 pro mil and death rate – 4.9 pro mil in 2010. According to the committee, some 51% or 15.069 million people live in urban places and 49% or 14.489 million people – in rural areas. (Source: UzDaily.com)
