DIRECTOR OF THE BRITISH NGO: “UZBEKISTAN’S STATE POLICY HAS A SOCIAL ORIENTATION”
The priorities of economic program for the current year, announced by the Head of our state at the enlarged government meeting on January 15, continues to be in the focus of international society’s attention.

Thus, Kate Reese, director of The Haven Wolverhampton, the British NGO, was encouraged by the news about the allocation of more than half of the total expenditure of the State Budget of Uzbekistan for the social sphere in 2016, including the activities of the State program “Year of healthy mother and child”. She has welcomed the words of President Islam Karimov: “a healthy mother, healthy child is the key to a happy family, and happy family is the basis of a prosperous society”.

“It once again indicates a socially oriented directions of Uzbekistan’s state policy, as well as great attention, paid to the protection of public health, including expectant mothers and young people”, K.Reese said. “In general, having years of experience in Uzbekistan, I can firmly say that women’s role in public and political life of the country has enhanced.

Our organization together with the Uzbek partners has implemented a number of initiatives to develop the potential of women in the socio-economic sphere, establish and maintain a family business, provide psychological and other assistance, including through cooperation with mahalla (neighborhood) committees.

It is gratifying that such a mechanism of cooperation between the nongovernmental sectors of the two countries and the traditional institutions of civil society provides tangible practical results”.
