Uzbekistan Trade Union Federation receives ILO delegation
On October 12, the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan hosted the meeting with the delegation of International Labour Organisation (ILO).
The meeting was attended by the representatives of ILO, including Kari Tapiola, Special Adviser to the Director-General; Snezhana Bedalli, Senior Officer for Child Labour; Harri Taliga, Chief Technical Adviser for State Programme Implementation on Decent Labour; Stephen McClelland, Chief Technical Adviser; Anastasia Dubova, Specialist for State Programme Implementation on Decent Labour; and social partners of the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan.
The representatives of ILO have been thoroughly advised on the work carried out in the framework of State Programme on Decent Labour in Uzbekistan and on its results. It was noted that systematic work on integrating national and international labour standards, including ILO Conventions, and the massive advocacy activities in this field and on the realisation of population feedback mechanism through Legal Clinic of the Federation of Trade Unions display transparency and adherence of Uzbekistan to its international obligations.
The components of decent labour and the issues of further cooperation development between Uzbekistan and International Labour Organisation and World Banks were also discussed during the meeting.
As of the end of the meeting, the sides came to an agreement on expert-level roundtable talks, so as to further enhance the mechanisms of ILO Conventions’ implementation in social and labour sectors.
