Depending on the place of residence, applicants should submit their documents either to Consular Section of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Washington, DC or Consulate General of Uzbekistan in New York City.
Republic of Uzbekistan has not yet joined the Hague Convention Abolishing the Legalization of Foreign Public Documents. Thus, the following procedure should be observed prior to submitting the documents to the Embassy for legalization.
- A completed Application for Legalization. Prior submitting the document to the Embassy it has to be authenticated in the following order:
- Signed before a notary public;
- Certified by the clerk of the court of the county in which the notary is commissioned *;
- Certified by the Secretary of State of the State in which the document is executed;
- Certified by the Department of State Authentication office located at:

* Item "b" may be omitted if the authority in item "c" will certify directly to the notary.
- The legalization fee is $ 45.00 per document. Money order must be made payable to the Embassy of Uzbekistan.
- Those applying by mail must include a self-addressed envelope one of the following postage services: FedEx, Priority and Express Mail only with pre-paid postage. Consular Section of the Embassy of uzbekistan does not send documents via U.S. Certified Mail, U.S. Registered Mail, DHL, Airborne Express and PuroLetter of Canada. Embassy is not responsible for lost or damaged mail.
Documents can be submitted for legalization Monday through Friday between 10 am and 12 pm for
the next day service.
