“THE CONSTITUTION OF UZBEKISTAN CONTRIBUTES TO CONFIDENTLY TAKE THE WAY OF PEACE AND PROSPERITY”
Speech by President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov at the solemn meeting devoted to the 23 anniversary of the Constitution of the country has caused wide interest among experts and academic circles of Israel, who shared their opinion and comments on the theses expressed by the head of our state.
Leonid Elizarov, chief editor of “Menorah”:
- With great interest I have acquainted with the text of the speech by President Islam Karimov at the solemn meeting in Tashkent. Uzbek Constitution enshrines rights and freedom of every citizen, regardless of nationality, ideological views and religious beliefs. The Main Law has incorporated the best practices of the democratic world, and most importantly, national historical and cultural features of the Uzbek people. The Constitution of the Republic reflects the ultimate goal of building a developed, democratic state and just civil society.
On the proposal of the President of Uzbekistan, 2016 in the republic declared the “Year of health mother and child”. It is not a declarative statement, the initiative is based on a deep understanding of the head of state importance of the issue that will determine the future of the country, its landmarks and spiritual values.
It is clear that the building of a developed democratic state and strong civil society is not straightforward. I am sure that the vast creative potential of the Uzbek people will continue to promote the steady progress of the republic to the set targets. In this regard it should also be noted that the country’s civil institutions are playing an increasingly important role in society.
Uzbekistan may serve as a model of the different nations’ and peoples’ peaceful co-existence in one country. Of course, a major factor in its achievement is the generous nature of the Uzbeks, a long tradition of respect for other peoples and their culture.
I wish with all my heart to this wonderful, hospitable and noble people every success. I am confident that the Constitution has helped and will continue to help Uzbekistan to confidently take the way of peace and prosperity.

- Uzbekistan has once again celebrated the Constitution Day. The residents of Israel also share the joy of the Uzbek people on the occasion of this historic date and. After all, your republic is home to many thousands of Jews saved from death in the Holocaust, a country at whose territory community of Bukharan Jews was formed, has been developed and flourishing.
Particular attention should be paid to Uzbekistan’s ability to support internal stability and civil peace in spite of the various challenges. And all this is impressive when ethnic and religious diversity of the country. This factor makes your republic model in our turbulent times.
I sincerely wish Uzbekistan’s authority and people further success in achieving its noble goals.
